Khao Lak Emerald Beach Resort & Spa

I want to share an honest review of this hotel because all I saw were fake reviews. This hotel has horrible customer service. The staff are unwilling to help and push back on every request or complaint. This hotel also has absolutely no accessibility compliance and no elevators. They put my 86 year old dad on the 3rd floor and refused to help change the room. The front desk person was very rude and aggressive when we asked them to change the room. The shower has no accessibility for people with difficulty moving and again my dad has to take shower in my room. Additionally, the property is old and rooms are hit or miss. My room has garbage bags view. When I asked if we could have a different room, the receptionist very quickly responded that they were fully booked even without checking. Again, no effort or empathy. Overall, the hotel territory is not well maintained and the beach is dirty with all the debris from trees. We have to use the beach of the hotel next door. I hope the management reads this feedback and trains the staff to be more polite and accommodating. I do not recommend this hotel.

Stayed in a villa with pool. Though on check in they didn’t have a record of my reservation so it was only a matter of luck that meant we actually got the room type reserved. The room was a mixed bag. The idea is sound, detached mini-villa with outdoor shower and sea front view. Alas, the statement / feature bath leaked and so was useless, the property is a little tired the decor was similar to a 1990’s travelodge. However, the view over the beach to Andaman sea is without comparison. There were a couple of issues during the stay but these were dealt with very well and the staff are very friendly.

First of all, the booking process was a messed. No one reply email, the one who answered calls was not able to speak English. We booked 6 rooms, by common sense, and early booking, we should be arranged near to each other. Well 5 rooms were close to each other, and 1 room was arranged to far end of another block of building. It took them more than 1 hour to do the check in progress! And the hotel is full of stairs, there’s no elevators on the hotel. With the room located at 4th floor, it’s very hard for elderly to climb up to 4th floor, with a very narrow stairs. The surrounding of the hotel is not well maintained. Pond is very dirty, rubbishes everywhere. Equipments were so run down. They have 4 pools, 1 kids pool, 2 normal pools and one pool with rooms surrounding. The 2 normal pools were dirty and not so pleasant to go in. The other 2 was ok. Room is not up to 4 stars’ standard. I would only give a 2 stars. Rooms were not well cleaned, broken and old equipments. Even the cabinet, they used celotape to stick to the laminate that torn down. TV was tilted down at least 15-20 degrees. Toilet was pretty dirty, mold everywhere. You can see hairs on the unused bath tubs. Very clear dust on the toilet floor. Power plugs have no usb or international plugs. Breakfast was below average, cutleries and plates can see stains! Especially the plates for babies, it was oily and with stains on it. Hotel rate: 2/5 Cleanliness: 2/5 Service: 1/5 Pools: 1/5 Comment: this hotel either needs to change to a better management, or a good renovation to maintain 4 stars. Overall experience: not that pleasant especially with their service, would not come back nor recommend. A very disappointed trip for me and my family.

Nice hotel, spacious rooms. Breakfast had a good selection also. Location is good, everything you need is in walking distance (restaurants, beauty treatments, massages, waxing etc.., groceries [inc. 7 Eleven], clothing, swimwear, souvenirs, good little Muay Thai gym with decent gear you can purchase, a pharmacy). It is also easy to get a cab from the hotel to other places if you want to explore a little.
